Historical Note:
The Faculty was created in 1960 to 'satisfy the growing demand for technologists' in Australia, and was the brainchild of J N Greenwood, Professor of Metallurgy, who was appointed foundation Dean. It comprised members from Science, Engineering, Arts, Economics and Commerce, and Law, and one member nominated by the Minister of Education. It would administer subjects such as Applied Chemistry, Electronics, Metallurgy, Dietetics, and Optometry.
